Restaurant raises funds for Dreams Come True

The new BlackFinn American Grille restaurant at The Markets at St. Johns Town Center partnered with the Dreams Come True young professional group, the Horizon Board, for a fundraiser to benefit Dreams Come True.

The event raised more than $3,500 for the Dreams Come True Horizon Board. Proceeds will assist the Horizon Board with sponsoring the dream of a local child.

With 100 people in attendance, guests were treated to a tour of the new restaurant.

“We were honored to be a part of the BlackFinn Experience and cannot thank them enough for their gracious donation,” said Will Courtney, Horizon Board president.

“The family the Horizon Board is sponsoring will never forget their trip to Hawaii and those who made it possible. Guests said it was the best young professionals’ charity event they’ve attended in Jacksonville. We couldn’t have done it without Tracy Matherly and Toni Warren at BlackFinn,” he said.

Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurants offer gourmet burritos and other delicious Mexican meals in your area. In Jacksonville Town Center you will find our complete menu of freshly made burritos, tacos, fajitas and salads with your choice of Barbacoa, Beef, Chicken, Carnitas (Shredded Pork) or Vegetarian are made to order. Chipotle Mexican restaurants are a perfect idea for lunch hour meals in addition to corporate and business catering.

The Chipotle restaurant in Jacksonville Town Center near Panda Express, Mochi, Bento Sushi, and the new Pollo Tropical and Zaxby’s is known for its large burritos, assembly line production, and use of natural ingredients making every effort to use organic ingredients. All Chipotle’s offering a fast-casual Mexican food dining featuring burritos, tacos, as well as salads.

Ordered a custom Barbacoa Burritto – with lime-cilantro rice, black beans, spicy salsa, corn, guacamole, and jack cheese. Plus a bottle of water.

Really hit the spot – I was absolutely starving – Inhaled that bad boy in no time flat! The one thing I don’t like about Chipotle Burrittos is that they are not very hot temperature-wise! Tijuana Flats still wins out on this account.

The Golf Galaxy store at the Markets at Town Center closing

Golf Galaxy is indeed closing. They will be shutting their doors on October 30th, 2010 from what I hear. It is a successful store, but the rent at the St. Johns Town Center is just too high. As the article about Golf Galy closing notes below, there are 5 stores in Texas closing. Out Golf Galaxy is a closeout center, so there is a ton of Dallas Cowboys, Texas A&M, and Texas Longhorn Gear on the cheap. The prices are still 25% off, which makes for moderatly good deals. I expect around October 15th, we’ll start to see the 40% – 70% off stage.

Here is the article from the Jacksonville Business Journal….

The Golf Galaxy store at the Jacksonville at Town Center is closing, less than two years after opening.
The parent company of Golf Galaxy did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment, but a bright yellow banner is draped across the storefront that reads “Store closing,” and several other media outlets have reported since late August that at least 12 underperforming Golf Galaxy stores are closing around the country.

A discussion board on The Golf Channel’s website states that the closing stores include one in Illinois, one in California, five in Texas, both Arizona stores, the one Washington State store and the Jacksonville and Naples stores in Florida.
Golf Galaxy, which is owned by sporting goods retailer Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. (NYSE: DKS), operates 91 stores in 31 states, according to the company’s website. There are five stores in Florida.
The Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reported in July 2008 that Golf Galaxy’s Eden Prairie, Minn., headquarters was shuttering, just two years after Dick’s Sporting Goods, based in Findlay Township, Penn., bought the company.
The Jacksonville Golf Galaxy, which opened in fall 2008, is at 4871 Town Center Parkway. It was not known at press time how big the Jacksonville store is, but the company’s website says the average store is 15,000 square feet.

Panda Express Asian Food at Jacksonville Town Center

Jacksonville Town Center Panda Express

Jacksonville, FL 32246-8437

Directions to Panda Express Town Center

I just tried Panda Express at Jacksonville Town Center last month. It opened only recently in TC. Probably the best fast food Chinese place I’ve had in Jacksonville Town Center, besides PF Changs. It’s too bad my house is about 15 minutes from the St. John’s Town Center , or I would definitely go to Panda Express at Jacksonville Town Center more often.

Panda Express is right in the front entrance of the Town Center, near Pollo Tropical, CVS, Chipolte, Bento Sushi, Mochi Frozen Yogurt, and the old Golf Galaxy.

I am a huge fan of the orange chicken, Beijing beef and sweet-and-sour chicken with fried rice. It really is the best asian food at Jacksonville town center for the money. It’s delicious!

I get the $7 deal for 3 entrees and a side. $5.25 gets you any 2 entrees with any 1 side. They don’t have a huge selection, but the food that they do have is awesome.
