Gold hits record, silver jumps on weak greenback

Gold hits record, silver jumps on weak greenback

US silver futures leapt as much as 6 per cent and gold futures reached a record high, underpinned by a weakened dollar after the US Federal Reserve signalled no rush to reverse its accommodative monetary policy.

The dollar index, a measure of the greenback’s strength against a basket of currencies, declined to a three-year low following Fed chief Ben Bernanke’s remarks that the central bank would not scale back its support for the economic recovery any time soon.

“Gold has followed the misfortunes of the dollar,” said Darren Heathcote, head of trading at Investec Australia.

“It looks very difficult to find a reason to sell gold right now, and technically we are targeting $1550. Bulls are very much in control of this market at the moment.”
US gold futures rose to a record high of $US1530.80 an ounce, before easing slightly to $US1528.10, up 0.7 per cent.
Spot gold matched the record high of $US1529.90 hit in the previous session. It had since trimmed gains to $US1527.29 an ounce, little changed from the previous close.
“Gold is still bullish, with the QE2 (second round of quantitative easing) to be completed on schedule and interest rates to stay low until at least end of the year,” said a Hong Kong-based dealer.
“Unless we see the job market turn around quickly, interest rates will stay low for a long time.”
On the data radar on Thursday is US gross domestic product. The forecast is that growth slowed to a 2 per cent annual rate or even less, according to a Reuters survey, after a 3.1 per cent fourth quarter pace.

US silver jumped as much as 6 per cent to $US48.75 an ounce earlier in the day, then softened to $US48.55. Spot silver rose by 1.6 per cent to $US48.52, extending gains made in the previous session.
It hit a 31-year high of $US49.31 on Monday. Holdings in the iShares Silver Trust , the world’s largest silver-backed exchange-traded fund, extended losses from the previous session, down 1.8 per cent to 11,053.20 tonnes.

Spot silver has gained 57 per cent so far this year, compared to gold’s 8 per cent ascent. The surging demand for physical silver, especially in Asian countries, has helped support its recent rally.
Reuters.

Jacksonville House Music?

By admin  //  Uncategorized  //  No Comments

Hahahaha. Not reaaly. But if you went to WMC, you certainly heard about Toronto’s Art Department. Their Album is out today.

Art Department have unveiled details for their debut album, The Drawing Board.

Given the soaring popularity of last year’s “Without You,” you’d think Jonny White and Kenny Glasgow had been at it together for years. In fact, though both artists have long been active in Toronto’s club scene, that 12-inch was the first (and is still the only) record in the duo’s catalog. Much like that massive single, their debut album is all about sinister but sexy vocal house, often with Glasgow’s own deep croon. The Drawing Board also features a few guest appearances: Seth Troxler delivers vocals on a new track called “Living the Life” as well as the already released “Vampire Nightclub,” and Osunlade joins Boston duo Soul Clap on “We Call Love.”

The album will come out on CD through Crosstown Rebels at the end of April. A month ahead of its release, Art Department will debut their new live act during the Get Lost party at Electric Pickle in Miami.

Tracklist
01. Much Too Much
02. Tell Me Why (Part I)
03. Living The Life feat. Seth Troxler
04. What Does It Sound Like?
05. Without You
06. We Call Love feat. Soul Clap & Osunlade
07. Vampire Nightclub feat. Seth Troxler (Album Version)
08. In The Mood
09. Roberts Cry
10. Tell Me Why (Part II)
11. I C U

Starter Coin – The gentleman’s way to start the gentleman’s game

By JMartin  //  Starter Coin  //  No Comments

The fine folks over at http://www.startercoin.com/ were nice enough to send me a sample of their product to test out as I finally got out from under Mother’s Nature’s cold, harsh winter blanket and saw the green grass of the golf course for the first couple times this season.

Dubbed by its maker as “The gentleman’s way to start the gentleman’s game,” the product is a coin that you can keep in your golf bag to determine who is the lucky person in your group to start things off on the first tee, and then also tells you who will hit second, third and fourth. We have all been on the first tee trying to decide who is going to hit – each looking at each other silently imploring the others to take one for the team and lead things off. We have also probably all been in the situation where using the tee method to determine the order leads to confusion rather than clarity, as debate ensues over who is supposed to go when the tee is pointing directly in between two people. The Starter Coin solves all of those problems. You flip it and it will tell you who is off the tee in what order. It is a simple and fun product. There is also a ball marker on there for good measure, and you can choose the saying that appears on the marker, picking from things like, “No Putts, No Glory” or “That’s How I Roll.”

I have broken the Starter Coin out a few times on the first tee and the reception has all been very positive. It costs $12 and shipping is free, so it is an inexpensive accessory to add to your bag or would make a great gift for the golfer who truly has everything.

And best of all, my buddy Josh came up with another good use for the coin besides the first tee — at the end of the round, give it a flip to determine who is stuck with the first round of drinks!

Election Night party at Latitude 30 in Jacksonville a Dud.

Latitude 30
10370 Phillips Highway
Jacksonville, Florida 32256

Rick Mullaney’s campaign was banking on a solid showing in early and absentee voting.

It didn’t happen.

When those numbers came in early Tuesday night and Mullaney was fourth, it was over.

So over that the campaign never even put live results on the big screen during the Election Night party at Latitude 30 in Jacksonville 15 minutes from the Town Center.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>’

The thrilling new Latitude 30 houses an unmatched amount of entertainment that is almost more than one night can handle. Inside the new-age venue, a movie theater, bowling alley, arcade, fine dining, and sports bar all compete to be the main activity of the night. Each exciting possibility meets expectations with a level of sophistication seldom seen in Jacksonville’s entertainment scene. After an $11 million renovation of the former Toys R Us building located at 10370 Phillips Highway in southeastern Jacksonville, one would expect something monumental to emerge. A location containing such a large amount of entertainment is on the crisp edge of new-age entertainment centers.

Overall, the experience has been related to Dave and Busters, but Latitude 30 is really unlike anything Jacksonville has offered. Don’t hesitate to bring large groups. The more the merrier, as no one will be bored with so many different activities. Parking, however, is very difficult and lines are long so arriving early is strongly advised, however the experience inside will have you coming back the next weekend. No matter how solid you plan, you won’t be able to experience the full entertainment center. It is simply not possible to fit all the fun Latitude 30 offers into one night.
