Sawgrass Village faces challenge from Jacksonville Town Center

By admin  //  Ponte Vedra, Sawgrass Village  //  Comments Off

PONTE VEDRA BEACH — Now that the plan to rebuild the Publix supermarket and CVS drugstore in Sawgrass Village has been approved, at least one business owner plans to aggressively advertise to let people know he’s still in business.
Village Jeweler owner Richard Felder said he’s anticipating a loss in business for several months during the reconstruction of the two main stores. People tend to stay away from surrounding businesses where there’s construction taking place, he said.
“We’re going to promote a little more advertising to let people know we are going to be open and still doing business as usual,” Felder said.

In recent months, Ben Carter Properties, also manager of the St. Johns Town Center off Butler Boulevard, have completed other changes like remove the cosmetic chimneys from the tops of the buildings. They have also cleaned the awnings above the shops and resurfaced the parking lots and are redoing the landscaping.

Jacksonville Bakery

Here is a review of Sweet to Eat from Yelp.

I went here today after school because to i have been on a sweet tooth binge! I walked in and the lady( im assuming the owner) was very very friendly. I got a lemon bar and pecan bar and to my surprise they were only 75 cents! i was like super cheap! and to make it better they were soo tasty. my pecan bar was loaded with nuts, chocolate chunks and just tasted so good. The lemon bar was good too. The crusty browned edges of the lemon bar were even better. I am regretting now that i only got one of each to go.

I also got a chocolate chunk sea salt cookie, Now i was i could review the cookie, however i did not get to try it because my mom ate it! She didnt even share. and my mom always shares. So i think its a safe bet to say that the cookie was good. The cookie was a bit on the pricey side and it was an average size cookie. it was $2.25 but since i dont know how to make them, i will cough up the cash to get one when im craving one.

I also got this puff pastry with cinnamon and sugar and it was quite delicious. Simple and yummy. Not too sugary and not to hard on the wallet either. That rang in at about $1.50

I will say that the extent of items they have on hand is very limited to some items which is why they dont get the full 5 stars. I wanted to walk in and try some of the things i saw on their website however they didnt have even half of what was listed on their site. I didnt go too late in the day either. I went in around 3:30ish. They had one flavor of cupcakes to purchase and they also had no mini cupcakes to buy. You have to order them if you want them. So no walking in randomly to buy a mini cupcake and no real selections of cupcakes. However they did have cannolis and cookies and the lemon/pecan bars on hand.

This place is yummy and good. I’ll def go back just to get more lemon bars and pecan bars.
